P.R.A.Y. Psalm 110

Because this is a short Psalm with just a few verses, WRITE OUT THE PSALM WORD FOR WORD.

Consulting more than one translation of Psalm 110 (available at this link), write out how you’d explain the Psalm in YOUR OWN WORDS.

Lastly, P.R.A.Y. the Psalm… writing out how this Psalm leads you to Praise and Thanksgiving – Reflection, Repentance and Returning to Jesus Christ – Asking, Seeking and Knocking (Kingdom oriented prayer) – Saying “Yes!” to God… be sure to include 1 to 3 “I will” statements…what you will personally focus on putting into practice in the coming week in response to God’s Word in Psalm 110.

Psalm 67 – May The Peoples Praise You

Overview:
Goal: To understand the Psalms and Psalm 67 better – not only how they were used in ancient times but how modern Christians use them to pray and worship.

Remember:

Question: “How do you learn to love the Lord will all your heart, soul, strength, and mind and obey everything He commands?”

Answer: “Oh, I Pray! (O.I.P.R.A.Y.) the Bible”

Observing & Interpreting Psalm 67

Read Psalm 67 twice at least.

Then read these two passages:

Genesis 12: 1-3

Numbers 6: 24-26

How do these passages relate to Psalm 67?

What is the purpose of God’s blessing as stated in Psalm 67?

What, then, is Psalm 67 a prayer about?

How Do These Verses Lead you To…

P. = Praise and Thanksgiving?

R. = Reflect, Repent, Return to Jesus Christ?

A. = Ask, Seek, and Knock (Pray Kingdom Oriented Prayers)?

Y. = Say YES! to God’s Will

Follow through:
Pray – Turn your answers into active prayer, praise, repentance, and seeking God’s strength to carry out your plans to follow His will!

Remember… Saying “YES!” to God’s Will revealed in Scripture ultimately leads us to SHARE & BLESS.

SHARE – What you’ve found with your household, friends, and/or small group this week!

Who do you know who needs to hear what you’ve discovered?

BLESS – How will you, your household, small group, etc. live out a lifestyle of mercy this week?

Weekly Challenge:

  • Continue reading Psalm 67 this week. Observe, Interpret and P.R.A.Y. through the Psalm and be prepared to share next week.
  • How are you doing trying to obey God’s Word when you study it weekly? Are you saying “Yes!” to God and putting it into practice?
  • Are you sharing what you learn with other people inside and outside the Body of Christ? Start with your household, then a friend.

P.R.A.Y. Psalm 139

P.R.A.Y. Psalm 139 – You have searched me and known me…

Whole hearted followers of Christ are baptized Christians who seek to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind (Lk 10:27) and obey everything Christ has commanded (Mt 28:18-20).

Goal: To understand the Psalms and Psalm 139 better – not only how they were used in ancient times but how modern Christians use them to pray and worship.

Question: “How do you learn to love the Lord will all your heart, soul, strength, and mind and obey everything He commands?”

Answer: “Oh, I Pray! (O.I.P.R.A.Y.) the Bible”

Let’s begin with PRAYER…

O – Let’s start by OBSERVING the Psalm… what does it SAY in these key sections:
Psalm 139: 1-6
Psalm 139: 7-12
Psalm 139: 13-16
Psalm 139: 17-18
Psalm 139: 19-22
Psalm 139: 23-24
I – Let’s INTERPRET the Psalm. What does each section MEAN? Can you summarize it in your own words?

Some special questions come up with Psalm 139…

  • What are your thoughts as you read verses 19-22?
  • Does reading Luke 14:26 and/or Revelation 2:6 give any insight for you about interpreting Psalm 139:19-22?
  • How are verses 19-22 balanced by verses 23-24?

How Do These Verses Lead you To…

R. = Reflect, Repent, Return to Jesus Christ?

A. = Ask, Seek, and Knock (Pray Kingdom Oriented Prayers)?

Y. = Say YES! to God’s Will
